How to get more clients from your own Facebook Group

Facebook groups seem to have become one of the top strategies to get more clients in coaching and other service-based businesses. I have worked with 4 different business coaches in the past 12 months and they all use a Facebook group as their primary platform to get paying clients.

Business tips - How to get more clients from your own Facebook Group

Why do we love Facebook groups so much?

The great thing about a Facebook group is that you can build relationship with your followers faster than any other social media platform.

And NO, you don’t need to spend hours on Facebook to get paying clients.

I signed up most of my clients from my own Facebook group (and the other Facebook groups I’m in too). This is because they get to know me better as I post daily, sharing everything from my personal journey, valuable tips & advice, behind the scenes and my incredible offers. They also see me engaging with other members in the group. It feels more REAL!

So how do we make sure we get the RIGHT people joining your group and actually convert them into paying clients?

First thing first – remember that they will always be some people in the group who will never engage or become your client. And that’s fine! Don’t let that worry you and stop you from being consistent and share your amazing stuff. You will always have some secret admirers following you and they will LOVE you for who you are and what you are sharing. Everyone reacts differently! I KNOW this from my blogging days :)

But obviously making sure that the RIGHT people joining your group is definitely KEY to increase your conversions.

So let's take a look at 7 ways you can promote your Facebook group and make sure that they attract your ideal clients.

1. CREATE A MINI SALES PAGE TO PROMOTE YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP AND POST IT IN OTHER FACEBOOK GROUPS (AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK) WHERE YOUR IDEAL CLIENTS MAY BE HANGING OUT

This mini sales page is key - think about your Facebook group as a paid service or product. Start with your ideal client’s pain points followed by benefits. They are so many groups out there so you have to make sure that your group stands out from others. Also send this as a solo mailer to your existing mail list.

2. PROMOTE YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP ON YOUR "THANK YOU" PAGE

This is a great way to get your ideal clients both on your mail list and in your group. This “thank you” page doesn’t have to be like a mini sales page, however make sure your copy sounds really exciting to make them want to join the group.

3. PROMOTE YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP ON OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK

Make sure you are calling out to your ideal clients and share the benefits of joining your group. Yes, you need to give your audience the REASONS why they should be joining your group!

4. ADD A LINK TO JOIN YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP IN THE BIO (PROFILE) SECTION IN OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Instagram have a section where you can put your website link. Replace your website address with the link to join your group. Note that Instagram does not allow any links in the post or the bio (profile) section.

Twitter allows you to add link in the bio (profile section) on your account. I suggest adding a link to your Facebook group in the bio section.

Pinterest is similar to Instagram and will not let you add link in the bio (profile) section although you'll see many accounts have their call to action within their bio section.  You could however replace your website address with the link to join your group (this step is similar to Instagram).

5. ADD A LINK TO JOIN YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP IN THE P.S.

  • P.S. section within your newsletter to your mail list.
  • P.S. section within the sales funnel email sequence.

6. TAG YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR FACEBOOK POST WHEN YOU POST IN OTHER GROUPS

value, personal story posts would work well where you are calling out to your ideal clients with your message.

The way to do this is to first change your group URL to the name of your group (or if that’s taken, use your full name). Then you can start typing the name of your group after “@” until your group appears from the drop down list.

7. PERSONAL OUTREACH

When you engage with your ideal clients in other Facebook groups, after a few conversations within the post, you can then take a conversation to Facebook messenger. You can then invite them personally to your group if you feel they are the right fit!

So now that you know HOW to promote your Facebook group and attract your dream clients, how do you actually convert members to paying clients?

STRATEGY #1: CONSISTENCY

We all know this one for sure! You don’t have to post multiple times a day, and this could look spammy when your group is still small and you are the only one posting. Instead, post one really good post a day – everyday. The types of post you could share are:

1.    Value post

2.    Personal story / journey

3.    Promotional / sales

4.    Asking questions

5.    Motivational / inspirational quotes or story

DO use an image! I see many people posting without an image. Be strategic with your image too. I would not recommend ONLY posting a stock image with text with every post.  Post a photo of YOU! They can be your professional photos, selfies, holiday photos – doesn’t matter as long as they show YOU :)

DON’T share a link to your blog or to another page in every post.  I see many people sharing their blogs or videos all the time without any headlines or explain what they are. Not everyone has time to click the link and read your blog (especially if they don’t know what the blog is all about) – therefore it’s always better to have your content in the actual post.

STRATEGY #2: WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

Always welcome new member (make sure you tag them), and then ask a simple question which they can answer easily. This is a great way to start a conversation and make a connection! Again, post your welcome post with a lovely image.

STRATEGY #3: ASKING QUESTIONS

Ask your group what they are struggling with or need help with. What free content they’d like? What they’d like to learn if you were to host a masterclass? You can either post an open question or create a poll with some options. I always create both my free content and paid programs based on what my ideal client would like to get and I know this by asking them!

STRATEGY #4: HOSTING CHALLENGE & LIVE MASTERCLASS

Hosting challenge is a great way to get people to engage as well as build the know-like & trust factor – especially when you host a daily Facebook live during the challenge. Live masterclasses are also a great way to get people to know you better. I highly recommend offering a free session during the challenge where people actually get to talk to you and find out how amazing you are. If you are hosting a live masterclass, you could either offer a free session or pitch your program at the end. If you are pitching lower-priced programs, you could direct people to your sales page or payment page. If you are pitching your one-to-one program, I recommend directing people to book a discovery call with you.

STRATEGY #5: PROMOTE YOUR OFFER DAILY

This is nicer way of saying “SELL EVERYDAY”!  If your members don’t know what you are offering, they will not become a paying client. I’m not saying you have to post “sales” post everyday. You can promote your offer in the P.S. section of your “value” or “personal story” post.

STRATEGY #6: FACEBOOK LIVE

I know that many people struggle with the whole concept of livestreaming (that was me). However, I know from my experience (though I don’t livestream often), that this is also a great way to build the know-like & trust factor. Don’t worry if you don’t get a large live audience to begin with. I personally like watching replay and I believe many people prefer replay too :) – it’s just more convenient. The point is to do a video regularly so that your group can actually see you and hear you.

STRATEGY #7: PERSONAL WELCOME MESSAGE

Private message your new member and welcome them personally – I love this as I really get to know each member personally. Send them a lovely welcome message (either voice message or in a text format) and ask a simple question to start a conversation. If you feel that they are the right fit for one of your programs, I would then personally invite them to a free coaching session.

BONUS: OPTIMIZE YOUR GROUP DESCRIPTION

Not everyone will take time to read through the whole group description. BUT people are most likely to notice it more if you start your description with a freebie offer.  Make sure this freebie is different to the one already used for the sales funnel where you promote your group. Give people a reason (in a short sentence) to sign up for this freebie.

THINGS TO NOTE:  I recently switched from Mail Chimp to Active Campaign* for my email campaigning because Active Campaign has amazing automation features. This will allow you to filter out people who joined your group THROUGH the sales funnel and not to send out another sales funnel assigned to the freebie you promoted in the group description. This is crucial because you do NOT want to be sending out multiple emails a day. For those who joined your group through a promotion in other Facebook groups or other social media platforms, you can continue with the sales funnel process.
