The 3 top reasons to focus on content marketing

Many online service-based entrepreneurs underestimate the power of their website. Your website is your biggest business asset and you should work it…. hard!

Your website is where all the magic happens – for you and your audience! And you can make the magic happen by implementing your unique content marketing strategy.

In case you are wondering what content marketing is all about, content marketing is about creating and sharing valuable content to attract your audience and ultimately turn them into loyal clients and customers.

You can achieve this by creating blog content on your website.

When correctly done, content marketing can increase your website traffic, grow your email list and make more sales, without relying on other people’s Facebook groups or social media.

Business tips: The top 3 reasons to focus on content marketing

Yet, many people skip over content marketing. They are told that they don’t need a website to get paying clients. They are told that a blog is not where the money is, and that it’s a waste of time. They are also told that they should be looking for clients from other people’s Facebook groups or fully focus on growing their own Facebook groups.

In fact, I did a poll in several Facebook groups and asked what marketing methods people were currently using. Most of them said that their primary marketing method was posting in other people’s Facebook groups.

These people all have the same problem. They don’t realize how much time, energy (and even money) they are wasting from putting all their effort into Facebook groups or other social media platforms for that matter.

This is just crazy. What if the owner of those Facebook groups suddenly shut down their group or decide to stop people in the group from posting their content or promotions? You’ll be left with nothing.

So contrary to other business coaches who tell their clients to focus on Facebooks groups to grow their audience, I teach my clients to focus on content marketing.

If you'd like to learn more about how you can start writing a successful blog for your business, grow a high-converting mail list and turn your subscribers into loyal customers and clients, I highly recommend reading my #LetsBlogforBusiness series:

In case you are feeling like… “This all sounds great but not sure if I am expert enough to create valuable content” or “Will this take too much of my time?” Do not to worry! Read on and you will see it’s possible and totally worthwhile.

I’ve listed the 3 top reasons to start blogging and focus on content marketing and why it’s not as hard as you may think!

REASON #1 – Establishes you as an Expert

It helps build brand awareness and establish you as an authority in your niche by sharing valuable content with your audience.

Now, if you are just starting out, you may feel that you are not an expert enough to create valuable content – (which isn’t true by the way!). I truly believe you are an expert in your own right and have awesome content you can share, but here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Provide evidence backed content. Do some research on a specific topic related to your audiences’ needs. Find some useful stats or share how a particular strategy or tactic is effective in bringing the results your audience desires.

  • Review a service or product that is relevant to your niche.

  • You can also talk about your own journey from A to B and share each step you took to get from A to B

You can see there are so many ways you can create valuable content.

REASON #2 – Quality over Quantity. It’s a Win - Win!

Blogging gives you a reason to generate quality content for your readers. It will reinforce your knowledge and allow you to build on what you already know.

Now, you may be thinking that creating valuable content and then promoting your content will require a lot of your time? The answer is ‘NO’. Many people think that if you are going to blog, you have to blog a few times a week. That’s not true. I’d say, blog less and focus on creating and promoting content. Quality over quantity my friend!

I would recommend publishing one blog a week – but if that is too much work at the beginning, publish one blog every other week. You will find it easier to write content as you get used to blogging.

If you are offering great content people will trust you with their email. Do it right and by using content upgrades or opt in forms you can fill your mail list full of engaged, interested potential customers. It’s a win – win!

REASON #3 – Drives traffic to your website

Blogging will help you reach a new audience, every day, organically. Your blog will draw people to your site. New people, searching for what you are writing about. No adverts needed. How awesome is that!

Blogging will help increase traffic to your website and that’s where your magic happens! Your website is where you can connect and engage with your audience. It’s where your audience can find all your valuable content, read about you and most importantly find out about what you can offer them.

Many coaches only have a few pages on their website which just sit there and don’t get updated regularly. By updating your website with fresh content regularly, search engines such as Google sees that your website is relevant and valuable and as a result, it increases the chances of getting your website ranked higher. That means you’ll have more people visiting your website and make more sales. With no extra cost or time on your side!

Hey, so you see how blogging is a SUPER cost effective and time efficient way to grow your audience and generate more income from your business.

When correctly done, content marketing can increase your website traffic, grow your email list and make more sales, without relying on other people’s Facebook groups or social media.

Not convinced? Here are some stats to prove that content marketing works if you implement it the correct way.

  • Content marketing leaders experience 7.8 times more site traffic than non-leaders.

  • Conversion rates are 6 times higher than traditional marketing.

  • Content marketing costs 62% less than outbound marketing BUT it generates more than 3 times as many leads.
